Then, “Please can I play with them, just for 5 minutes?” ⁣

And then tears.⁣

She understands why, but she’s had enough. “I’m done with this!” she said. ⁣

I don’t blame her. It’s so hard. ⁣

But despite the fact (the infuriating, don’t even get me started fact) that some are flagrantly ignoring the rules (yes you, shopping without a mask and disregarding the ‘one way’ aisle markers. And you, hosting that backyard BBQ last night), we continue to isolate, only venturing out for groceries or exercise walks—making sure to keep our distance from passers-by. ⁣
⁣
We’ve all had enough. But this is what we need to keep doing in order to protect our families, our friends, our neighbours, and our most vulnerable.

The hardest and most gut wrenching part about loving a pet, is losing a pet. And when you’re a child with the heart of a lion, it’s truly heartbreaking. ⁣

How do you explain why? ⁣

And what do you do when you try comforting by explaining that other pets and family members are together now in “heaven” and it ends up making it worse? Because that absolutely happened today. ⁣

Maya, you were a gentle soul. You were a safe and loving friend to all those who needed you most. ⁣

Your wedding day was one of the sweetest days. You are with Roger now. And Jazz and Ernie and all the pets we’ve known and loved. ⁣

“𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐩𝐩 𝐅𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐞” has become a thing. Two months into this Covid-19 quarantine and we’re running out of things to talk about. And as much as I’m struggling to keep the virtual conversation going, it’s become even more challenging for kids. Five minutes of a Google Meet, Zoom hangout, or Messenger Kids chat leaves my daughter drained.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
She wants to connect with friends virtually, but the mental mechanics required to participate in a conversation (especially when there are several people in the chat) is a challenge. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣

Nurses, right?? They are heroes in the best of times. Right now, they are warriors. We are grateful and humbled by them. My family knows some pretty amazing ones. ⁣

This girlie and I baked carrot, walnut, raspberry muffins this afternoon. And yes, it counted as homeschooling because measuring is math. ⁣

I tried to back off and just let her do it herself because how else do you learn? But I’m a Capricorn and a *tiny* bit bossy, so it’s sticky. But not 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘦 as sticky as the floor right after I took this photo and she spilled this measuring cup of maple syrup. It’s okay, I sopped up most of it with my socks. 😆 ⁣

The muffins weren’t perfect, but we’re pretty proud of them. Three cheers for carbs! Plus, they’re hella moist. Sorry. ⁣

Sidenote, this recipe called for raisins, but we didn’t have any so we used raspberries. Hence the extra moistness maybe? Sorry. M word again. Anyway, what do I know? In real life, I don’t bake, I bakery. :) ⁣
