Resolve to Resolve—It’s Not The End Of The World

I NEVER make new year resolutions. And with that staunch declaration, here are my new year resolutions: 1.  Never say never.  Facebook is currently flooded with warnings about how resolutions set up you to fail. Whether it’s called goal setting, or a creating a “life plan”, or just zeroing in on areas to improve upon, I’m making some adjustments this year. Nothing earth shattering. Just a few means to a more happy, healthy, successful end. Why now? Why not? 2. Get my pre-bed routine down from infinity to five minutes or less. 3. Walk more, drive less. 4. Deal with that thing that’s been getting in my way. 5. Gather up the nerve and ask her to be my mentor. 6. Eat more vegan, less “ish.” 7. Can it! As in, my mum and I are going to can fresh veggies. We’ve already created a Pinterest board so we’re well on our way. 8. Drink more water, less fermented grapes. It’s not that I think booze is bad, but there comes a time when you have to wonder how your liver is holding up. 9. Take better photos and back them up. 10. BUSY is The New Four Letter Word?

I’m busy. So very busy. I can’t believe how busy I am. And he’s so busy. And she’s too busy. And don’t even bother with them, they’re really quite busy. And things aren’t going to suddenly get less busy. Unless you become incarcerated. Or you slip into a coma. Hi honey. I often ask incredulously, “How is it possible that I’m SO busy? I work from home, part-time.” The fact is, life is as busy as it we allow it to become. That’s deep. I need to italicize that. Having a full and active life isn’t a bad thing. But, when it causes you to shirk certain responsibilities like calling your ninety year old grandpa on a regular basis or to let important relationships slide, busy becomes a four letter word. We can always find time to surf the net, watch a movie, get our hair done. We’re not too busy for those things. So when we tell someone we’re too busy to see them, to call them, to check[…]

Getting A Little Too Jolly….

For the love of god why did I stop running??? This summer I was on such a roll. Now I simply HAVE rolls. In three short months I have undone all of my hard work. I trained for and ran a 15km race last August. I was feeling fit and fab. Now I’m fat and drab. If I don’t get back on track soon, I’ll be trading in my Victoria Secrets for these unmentionables… I’m no spring chicken over here. As the big 4-0 looms I know I need to get moving and stay motivated. This is why my yearly New Year’s resolutions have come early this year – etched in chalk on the kitchen wall. My husband was literally laughing out loud as he watched me write these affirmations. He also shouted out a few he’d like me to add. They were funny. Really funny. I asked his permission to include them in this blog. Not gonna happen. I can say however that two of his suggestions are described rather graphically on Urban Dictionary and one I’m pretty sure, is illegal. What are your New Year’s Resolutions?
