Since our daughter was born, we haven't strayed far from the nest. Until recently. We just went to Disney World for our first ever family vacation. If you're on Facebook or Twitter or within a 100 mile radius, this isn't news.
We flew the coop and it was magnificent. Now we're planning the next "Thornbury Vacation" (think Griswolds, but somewhat less dysfunctional).
I combed the Thomas Cook website scouting out possible destinations. "Unbelievable!!" I shouted breathlessly. "We can go to Punta Cana for *insert insanely low dollar amount here*!"
I was practically packing our bags and preparing to call in sick (which is dumb since I'm self-employed) when my husband pointed out that I was quoting the price for one person, not the amount for a family of four.
Oh. That's okay. This just means we'll have to save a little. Next year our family WILL be winging our way toward some exotic location. Guaranteed.
Thomas Cook Kids First takes some of the guess work out of planning a family vacation. They offer packages to destinations developed with parents and kids in mind. Along with video reviews by kids, for kids, destinations are rated for "family friendliness" based on expert advice from knowledgeable Kids First travel specialists, parent bloggers and kids who've been there, done that.
I may be biased, but Candace's daughter's videos are the best. And I'm not just saying that because she and my son are betrothed. Choosing my future mother-in-law is not something I take lightly. Candace makes a Martini as wicked her sense of humour, she has a pool and an RV, and she laughs at (some) of my jokes. I have a lot riding on this match. I plan on spending many sun-filled days on the beach with my in-laws.
